This approach allows for flexibility and convenience, accommodating busy schedules while still providing individualized support. It’s an electronically secure method for clients to express their feelings and engage in therapy from the comfort of their own space.

Walk and Talk Therapy

Encompasses movement and mental health to connect mind-body-spirit

Walk and Talk Therapy is an innovative approach to psychotherapy that takes advantage of being outdoors in nature. The release of neurotransmitters like dopamine, often referred to as “happy chemicals”, during physical activity can contribute to a sense of well being  and connectedness. Additionally, being in nature can provide a calming and grounding effect, enhancing the therapeutic experience. Integrating movement into therapy sessions aligns with the mind-body approach, recognizing the interconnectedness of physical and mental health. 

 

Walk and talk therapy is inclusive and adaptable, welcoming adults of all fitness levels and walking abilities. Sessions are tailored to the individual’s pace and comfort level, ensuring that everyone can participate regardless of their experience or speed. It’s about creating a supportive and non-judgemental environment where clients feel empowered to explore their thoughts and emotions while enjoying the benefits of being outdoors.

In-School Therapy Services

Our in-school therapists have been trained extensively in child and adolescent psychology, trauma, and family systems.

PorchLight Mental Wellness partners with certain schools to offer in-person therapy sessions to provide a proactive approach to supporting students’ mental wellness while minimizing disruptions to their academic schedules. By bringing therapy services directly to our schools, students can access support without missing excessive amounts of school with time for transportation to appointments. This initiative benefits students in K5 through grade 12 who may be experiencing various challenges, providing them with a convenient and accessible resource for addressing their mental health needs.

Telehealth Grief Support Groups:

More information on groups to come!

Telehealth grief support groups provide a vital opportunity to connect with others who are also navigating the grieving process. Through shared experiences and support, participants can feel less isolated and find comfort in knowing they are not alone in their journey. The safe and confidential space created in these groups allows individuals to express their emotions, share memories, and receive understanding and empathy from others who are experiencing similar feelings of loss.
